We are seeking a Principal Lecturer to lead our highly reputable BA (Hons) Fashion Communication and Promotion course. Within this role you will be responsible for the academic management and curricula development and will be required to teach and supervise predominantly on the Fashion Communication and Promotion course but also, where required, contribute to our Postgraduate courses within the Department of Fashion Management, Marketing and Communication. You will also be required to contribute to the continual development of the FMMC Department and serve on Schoolwide committees as assigned by the Head of Department. Responsibilities will include line managing and developing the academic team, day to day management and overseeing teaching, learning and assessment to ensure our student satisfaction and employment record remains high.   

You will contribute to the research and practice of Fashion Management, Marketing and Communication and demonstrate a proven record of research outcomes and scholarly activity. 

As a strong communicator committed to leading a team to deliver high quality education within the subject area, you will have an in depth understanding of Global Fashion Industry principles and practice.

Experience in one or more of the following is required:

  • Fashion Communication and Promotion 
  • Creative Direction and Promotional Strategy 
  • Fashion Forecasting and Customer Insights 
  • Fashion Image / Aesthetic Fashion Landscape 
  • Visual Literacy and Aesthetic Development 
  • Visual Analysis and Semiotics
  • PR and Advertising 
  • Fashion landscape (structures, job roles and skill requirements)
  • Knowledge and understanding of theory and contextual studies

Candidates must be educated to a minimum of undergraduate degree level in Fashion Management, Marketing and Communication or an equivalent subject with relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent work experience combined with professional memberships and/or qualifications. There should be a willingness to complete your HEA level 2 in Professional Recognition (if not already held) within 3 years of appointment.
